Beginning of the End

For those who have been waiting for the release of All My Holy Mountain, the first chapter is how available for viewing and downloading at the BOTB website. You can link to it here.

Though the first chapter has been available early for the other books in the series, it feels strange to be unveiling this one. In part, no doubt, this is because the events contained within it feel climactic rather than introductory, like the others. After leaving Benjiah “hanging,” readers finally get to see what happens next. But even beyond that, it seems strange because it is the beginning of the end. I’ve enjoyed The Binding of the Blade very much, and even though my creative energies have been directed elsewhere for some time now, it is hard to say a formal good-bye to BOTB.

Even so, if you are a fan of the series, go check out the chapter and let me know what you think.

  • Excellent! I must say that I am surprised at Rulalin’s change of heart, but I did have some lingering suspicions he would repent. I am looking forward to reading the final book.

  • I would think the change of heart was somewhat evident at the end of “Father of Dragons,” given that he tries to help Wylla free Benjiah there, but perhaps the seriousness/extent/authenticity of his change of heart is better seen here.

  • My friend, wow, what a great beginning! When I look at myself I often see a man, like Rulalin, who has been a traitor to his Lord, and the things that he should hold most dear…and with that said, it’s great to see an opportunity for redemption in the story for Rulalin! Even though this is a fantasy story, God is good in giving us His Son, in whom, gives us redemption, but also, gives us opportunities to make some of our previous wrongs right again!

  • Woohoo!!! What a great birthday surprise – a sneak peak at the book I’ve been waiting so long for. 🙂

  • I LOVED IT!
I knew Rulalin would betray Malek!
    I SO WANT THE BOOK!
I also would LOVE to see the cover…..can you tell us if there’s any chance to see it before the book is released? 😀

  • love, love, loved it! Like it was mentioned above, Rulalin’s turn of heart is awesome, let’s hope he lives and this blossoms into full grown faith! Also happy to see my favorite characters – the dragons – coming back for the final battle!

Thanks, LB. This series has/is and truly will be great!

  • Dear L.B.,
I think you did a great job on chapter one of “All My Holy Mountain”.I read it on http://www.BOTB.com and I think if the rest of the book are as good,I can’t wait for more books by you.
    Sincerely,
    Benjamin Chavers age:13

  • Wow. That was amazing. I really can’t wait to get to read the rest of it. I’m now wondering what happened to Malek and Wylla. I’m also wondering a bunch of other things. =) How long does it till April? I need to start a countdown timer. =)

  • Loved it!!! I completely expected Rulalin to turn, but I had rather hoped that he would kill Farimaal in the middle of a battle or something like that… Great job. Can’t wait for the entire book. Then I’ll be looking forward to more news on your new series!!!

  • Thank you Brother. I’m not sure what else to say except that I have found your series very edifying. Something I have hoped for, but never found in most “Christian fiction”.

I am greatly anticipating the new release.

  • *screams*NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is amazon.com right that AMHM will be released [P & R Publishing (June 20, 2008)] instead of April?*sobs**starts hyperventilating*

  • P&R has fallen behind, specifically on getting the cover ready, so they are moving the target release date back. As I understand it, if the cover is ready sooner, it might be released sooner, but plan for June.

  • That was great!! I love fights on execution platforms. Especially with chains, knives, and Malek. I can’t wait to read the rest.

  • okay. I was afraid that it might have had something to do with why the cover hasn’t been revealed.(makes sense)

I can still hardly wait….now more then ever.
I hope the cover is great! I don’t know how they might be able to outdue FoD though….that was my fav….followed by SitD.

thank you for the status info. I’ll add the cover getting finished soon into my prayers. 😀

  • It was very good. I can’t wait to see the entire book! I had a feeling all along that Rulalin’s love for Wylla would overcome his allegiance!

Thank you so much for posting it!

  • Great chapter but in some ways I wish I hadn’t read it because its so hard to wait for the book to be released. But alas, this happens every year at the release of the new chapter. This chapter was a particular cliffhanger though!
    Thanks for the post L.B.

  • I don’t know if I want Rulalin to die or not. On one hand, he killed Jorieam, but on the other, he did repent, so…I can’t wait to see how it all ends! But I’ll be so sad when the series ends.

P.S. Evan Johnson, I think you’re my cousin.

  • who is Synoki anyway? Ive had thoughts that maybe he was Malek in his weaker state (Titan to human with powers). Maybe that is a stupid conlusion, but I have been just trying to figure out who in the world (or in THAT world) is this guy!
